Bigyihsuan as a microbe the monitor systems would be more like protein channels.

Bigyihsuan as a microbe the monitor systems would be more like protein channels. I would go with that.

@unknown I will include a location section in the next update. In terms of who eats who...I would love to let you know, but almost all of you are single cells with almost identical body plans, so it's hard to decide a food web. That's why I'm holding off on trophic levels until you are multicellular (so robotranicrex has a trophic level). I realize that this wasn't super helpful, so I'm sorry. Once a food web exists, I plan on making a graphic representation (laziness might invalidate that).

Round 8:
Event: N/A
SkyGuy98: (Active Photosynthesizer) (Vent Lava Flows) Mutation: Low Pressure Tolerance (4) R: CO2 Vacuole (2) Description: E. cieloviri can now tolerate the lower pressures found outside the deep ocean. Unfortunately, to get there, it employs a vacuole system similar to A. bigyishuanae up to including its vital flaw: a tendency to cause spontaneous bursting through overfilling. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {2} Flagella {4} Better Mitochondria {5} Phagocytosis {3} Chloroplast {6} Vertical Gene Transfer {4} Conservation Status: EN
Robotranicrex: (Tertiary Consumer [detritivore]) (Vent Sulfur Plumes) Mutation: Vascular System (6) Description: Discus roborexi has developed hollow tubes throughout its body. These tubes can transport nutrients and oxygen throughout its body. This allows for greater size, and via happy accident, small organs have developed off the sides of these tubes that hold invading bacteria. Previous Mutations: Flagella {5} Mitochondria {5} Vacuole {5} Phagocytosis {4} Binding Proteins {6} Communication Molecules {1} (anti attracting) Communication Molecules {5} Conservation Status: NT
Unknown: (Active Lancer) (Pelagic Waters) Mutation: Eyespots (3) R: Atrox's Phagocytosis (2) Description: E. obscurus has not changed. Fortunately it has not suffered a deleterious mutation either. Previous Mutations: Flagella {5} Mitochondria {5} Cilia {4} Horizontal Gene Transfer {4} Predatory Pilus {5} Low Pressure Tolerance {5} Eyespot {2} (diffuse Opsins) Conversation Status: VU
Longisquama: (Active Communal Predator) (Pelagic Waters) Mutation: Phagocytosis (3) R: Binding Proteins (3) Description: E. longisquamae has not changed. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {7} Vertical Gene Transfer {4} Flagella {4} Low Pressure Tolerance {6} Phagocytosis {2} (hit or miss) Signaling Agents {6} Binding Proteins {2} (puncturing proteins) Conservation Status: VU
Bigyihsuan: (Active Predator) (From Sea Floor to Upper Levels) Mutation: Vacuole Control Proteins (2) Description: Altus magnayihsuanae now has proteins in place to control the CO2 levels in the vacuole. They do have a tendency to stop functioning at higher water levels though, which makes it hard for the species to return to lower depths. Suffice it to say, this is less than ideal. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {4} Cilia {6} Cilia Aided Phagocytosis {4} Adhesive Proteins {7} Low Pressure Tolerance {4} CO2 Vacuole {2} (explosion waiting to happen) Conservation Status: EN
Atrox: (Active Predator) (Vent Sulfur Plumes) Mutation: Vertical Gene Transfer (4) Description: M. atroxi is now able to reproduce by genetic combination with other members of its species, which will allow for greater genetic innovation going forward. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {1} Improved Mitochondria {7} Cilia {1} (spiky poles of doom) Flagella {4} Bracing Proteins {4} Phagocytosis {5} Conservation Status: LC
Achievements: First to Reach Land: One additional vote that will have a +2 applied to it. First to Drive Another Species Extinct: A guaranteed super mutation.
Behind the Scenes: I don't think I have it in me to be super cruel. As such I have decided (based on your feedback) that there will be the same number of disasters, but I will be slightly less forgiving of deleterious mutations.

RoboTrannic you know that gray-black smokey stuff? You live in and around there at the vents, eating carrion and microbes.

Round 9:
Event: N/A
SkyGuy98: (Active Photosynthesizer) (Varied Upper Level) Mutation: Vacuole Control Proteins (4) R: Description: E. cieloviri now has basic control of its CO2 Vacuole, thanks to gating proteins that respond reasonably well to intracellular signals. It can be a bit touchy, and a strong signal is required to activate them. Being closer to the surface improves the benefit of this species' chloroplasts, although prolonged exposure increases ultraviolet light related damage. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {2} Flagella {4} Better Mitochondria {5} Phagocytosis {3} Chloroplast {6} Vertical Gene Transfer {4} Low Pressure Tolerance {4} CO2 Vacuole {2} Conservation Status: VU
Robotranicrex: (Tertiary Consumer [detritivore]) (Vent Sulfur Plumes) Mutation: Heart (5) Description: D. roborexi now has a small muscular pump at the center of its body. Since the colony is only three to four cells thick, this is quite a noticeable centerpiece. This pump circulates its nutrient fluid with far better efficiency than the pitiful cilia that previously did this, and the species can now grow even larger. Previous Mutations: Flagella {5} Mitochondria {5} Vacuole {5} Phagocytosis {4} Binding Proteins {6} Communication Molecules {1} (anti attracting) Communication Molecules {5} Vascular System {6} Conservation Status: LC
Unknown: (Active Lancer) (Upper Water Level) Mutation: Eyespots (5) R: Atrox's Phagocytosis (3) Description: E. obscurus now has its eyespots in order. The cells have localized patches of Opsin proteins which can determine light from dark, and direct the cell accordingly. Previous Mutations: Flagella {5} Mitochondria {5} Cilia {4} Horizontal Gene Transfer {4} Predatory Pilus {5} Low Pressure Tolerance {5} Eyespot {2} (diffuse Opsins) Conversation Status: VU
Longisquama: (Tertiary Consumer [detritivore]) (Upper Water Levels) Mutation: Phagocytosis (3) R: Binding Proteins (4) Description: Sol. longisquamae has altered its binding proteins. No longer do they cause mass puncture wounds, but instead they allow for true communal living. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {7} Vertical Gene Transfer {4} Flagella {4} Low Pressure Tolerance {6} Phagocytosis {2} (hit or miss) Signaling Agents {6} Binding Proteins {2} (puncturing proteins) Conservation Status: NT
Bigyihsuan: (Active Predator) (From Sea Floor to Upper Levels) Mutation: Chloroplasts (4) Description: A. magnayihsuanae in its new environment has taken in stray photosynthetic bacteria. These chloroplasts do the job, however they reflect rather than absorb the sun' speak output wavelengths, making them yellow-green, and less efficient than other types that flourish in the environment. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {4} Cilia {6} Cilia Aided Phagocytosis {4} Adhesive Proteins {7} Low Pressure Tolerance {4} CO2 Vacuole {2} (explosion waiting to happen) Vacuole Control Proteins {2} (stall the species in higher water) Conservation Status: VU
Atrox: (Active Predator) (Vent Sulfur Plumes) Mutation: Signalling Chemicals (5) R: Fixed Cilia (4) Description: M. atroxi now produces proteins that elicit communal behavior in its fellows. With this, the species can meet en masse for hunting and reproduction. Previous Mutations: Mitochondria {1} Improved Mitochondria {7} Cilia {1} (spiky poles of doom) Flagella {4} Bracing Proteins {4} Phagocytosis {5} Vertical Gene Transfer {4} Conservation Status: LC
Achievements: First to Reach Land: One additional vote that will have a +2 applied to it. First to Drive Another Species Extinct: A guaranteed super mutation.
Behind the Scenes: Those of you in the upper water levels will find yourselves being damaged by the sun's more energetic emissions, and so I recommend prioritizing a defense against that. Next round there will be a disaster, the exact nature of which I have yet to determine.
