You allow the Darude Darter to get close. Right when it seems like it'll attack, you dart underneath it and bite its more lightly-colored underbelly. It struggles, not expecting your maneuver, causing another wound to form in the process. However, it does manage to wrench itself free, and whacks you with its tail. Your are knocked backwards, your thin skin bruised. However, its bodily functions are inhibited by its insides spilling out, along with the salt water flooding in. It collapses onto the sandy floor. You've defeated it.
You have 2/3 health.
You have 1/3 stomach.
You have 10 MP.
New Mutations: -Sand Camouflage - 5 MP - Change your skin coloring to match that of the sandy seafloor. You can only have one camouflage at a time.

Agreed from here, let's eat the Double D, but mutate so that we can eat it in the first place.

Atrox Technically, eating defeated enemies would be how MP from victories is obtained. You suddenly feel evolution coming on again. You split in two, deciding that the Darude Darter's corpse is just as appealing as algae. You and your twin swim over to the corpse, eating the soft, fleshy remains (+5 MP). Your companion lays on the sand, waiting for you to do something. You have 3/3 health. You have 3/3 stomach. You have 5 MP.

We have enough for sandy camouflage, I vote we do it, and ignore defensive mutations to become the dominant ambush predator
Edit: I concur with Atrox, we shall further explore these "rock" things

Our mutations:- Mouth

- Grow Eye - 4 MP: Gives you one eye, allowing you to see your surroundings.
- Grow Tail - 4 MP: You get a thin flagellum-like tail that allows you to move faster than creeping.
- Thicken Skin - 4 MP: Thickens your skin. Provides a defensive boost against both foes and the environment.
- Increase Mass - 4 MP: Increases your size. Has defensive bonuses, but makes crawling movements even slower.

I vote for spines!
While sand camouflage would be great for now, we're near the shore where there'll be grasses and that sort of camo might not be as useful anymore. Spines give us a bit of an edge both offensively and defensively for now and later.

I don't know about grasses Rowdy. We're not at the shore yet. We're only at some rocks, and the sand doesn't curve upwards for long way. I say: Mutation: Sand camouflage Action: Explore rocks with new companions

As your twin lies, you split in two once again. When it's over, you find that you and your two allies have the same sandy coloring as the Darude Darter.
Nipping down the last few morsels of your kill, you resume your journey to the rock, your friends in tow. You soon arrive near the foot of the rock-mountain. Due to your lack of depth perception, you are unable to estimate the height of the rock. It's brown-colored, and is dotted with plants that look like green buds. The rock also has crevices here and there. Living on the rock are slug-like creatures with chitinous shells on their backs. There are also ovular creatures with crystalline horns swimming around that don't look too friendly.
New Mutations: -Shell Armor- 8 MP - A protective shell covering your back. Can be made of either keratin (least effective, but repairs quickly), chitin (all-around), or crystal (most effective, but longest repair and require you to eat minerals to do so). Spines evolved before or after this will share the same material.
-Horn- 6 MP - A formidable spike or blade extending from your head, above your eye(s). Can be made of either keratin, chitin, or crystal.

I say the slugs should be called Slatherns and the oval horned creatures should be called Odelorns. I go with atrox's strategies.
Here's an image of a Darude Darter I made: version one: link version two: link

Most excellent, in fact ! I'm partial to the Darude Darter on the right myself, but they are all great.
