Would fire in its most basic form be able to be used in the Aware stage at all? Or would that be reserved for Awakening and Beyond? Either then that could an organism make fire in any way biologically or is that a no go impossible?

Do not start with the creatures being able to start fires biologically. They got that about as much as underwater cities.

Well Bombardier Beetles mix hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide to produce heat near the boiling point of water. If they had methane sacs inside their bodies as well as these two chemicals and a place to mix them, it could expel streams of methane from its body and said streams using the mixture.

Well, Close enough, I mean there are some things which simulate fire through chemicals *cough* Pepper Plant *cough*, So I guess that's close enough, could animals develop that in a different way such as through saliva?

I honestly think the biggest reason none od these ideas we're having aren't gaining ground is because it's too early in the game's development to even begin discussing organism abilities and stuff.
But you can bet i'll be bringing it up again once we get to that stage of the game. That and ice breath.... and organic wheels.... i need organic wheels....

Sounds like it'd work when "LAWK" isn't checked.
If anyone's ever watched "Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real," it gives some really good hypothetical info about dragon evolution. The dragons as early as the Cretaceous Period used bacteria-produced hydrogen for staying light enough to fly. They also breathed it out after "eating" platinum, the resulting chemical reaction being akin to fire breath. They also had something in their throats that could open and close to prevent fire from damaging the lungs.
So a non-LAWK organ would be a respiratory tube leading from a hydrogen sack (maybe or maybe not LAWK) that allows exhalation of hydrogen to breathe fire.

I always hated that platinum thing honestly. Where are you supposed to get it?? Would you have to wait till industrial and you're able to begin mining for things? Then what? Create cereal woth platinum bits in it?? Hey kids! Go to your grocery store and buy some Drac-O's! They're a good source of platinum and will let you breathe fire!!!"
Nah. I think for ignition of said hydrogen, we'd need some other chemical reaction *coughs* internalized bombardier beetle-esque chemical reaction *coughs*

Apparently, the dragons ate most of the world's platinum, and that contributed to their extinction.
Presumably, an internalized reaction organ would have the proper precautions, so I reckon the player could use it just fine. So then they'd fly around in a personal challenge to burninate the entire planet until the next update comes out.

But how did they get the platinum.
And woo! Complete and utter immolation!

It shows the protagonist of the time digging into a cliff and biting out platinum ore, so, presumably, it was abundant enough for them to simply burrow a ways in into the mountains and eat. A bit of a longshot, but they kind of answered it.
Not sure how the forest dragons were able to get any, though. They probably dropped the ball there.

The whole planet is just platinum covered in a (relatively) thin layer of dirt.

No need to get mad at people for talking about things over and over again, sometimes people just need to get a chance to come to the conclusion of it being unworkable through their own efforts.
Better to discuss it and convince them of what you think.
In all things, as usual, be civil. I will only come in here (and I think it's the case with our other devmods) to police, I've heard this discussion many times before and I'm bored of arguing it.
Enjoy!

I don't think we were actually debating, I was trying to fish out what I knew about the mockumentary out of my mind. Atrox was wondering how the heck the dragons got platinum, and I wasn't necessarily supporting the idea of platinum-hydrogen reaction fire breath.

Indeed I was just pointing out flaws in the mockumentary!

Mito might be talking about me trying to stop a discussion that annoys (almost) everyone. But... It has been mentioned here. Look at " WE DO NOT NEED MORE IDEAS-PEOPLE." paragraph.

That's intended as a deterrent for people joining the dev team just because they have a few ideas. Going crazy with irrelevant conceptualising on here is perfectly fine, but we don't want it on the dev forum (it's why we set this whole forum up in the first place). It doesn't look attractive or professional if all the "development" work going on is actually just speculation about impossibilities.

YES! In the way I think it will work, I see a way to make organic wheels.

I think someone around Thrive once came to the conclusion that it COULD work but I can't remember where or how.
