I found this interesting video about plate tectonics. Now, I'm not sure if plate tectonics are gonna be a thing in the far future of Thrive, but it could be cool to enhance the realism of planets by not only making mountain ranges, island chains and maybe even earthquake and volcanic eruption.

Good gravy, there are so many factors when making an evolution-based game! I must say this plate tectonic simulator really made a cool looking planet at the end, though a little rough around the edges. Perhaps if thrive implements something like this, they could have it run for bit to have a randomised world!

The are already planning to split the planet into hexagon sections. So this is defiantly possible in the future.

Well, afterwards the planet looked like there were messy smears of islands in and around the oceans. Also it was weird in that the map was square, when on real planets it would be some sort of oval map.
