It is over 3 billion years since life first appeared on Ezta. Life has come a long way since those archaic times, with even the first multicellular creatures having evolved. However, nature is not without her cruelties; a massive extinction event recently rocked the planet leaving few survivors. The once vibrant seas are now devoid of life and ghostly silent. Your species, Superstes, has survived these events by living in the sandy sea floor as a kind of proto-worm. But, as are the rules of nature, with death comes opportunity. Which path will you take to thrive?
Game Outline
Welcome to the Path of the Wild! In this game, like others before it, you will each be taking control of one species, starting with Superstes. This game here heavily inspired this, and you might want to take a look if you don't understand. I'm sure some of the other old-timers will agree, but I really loved this game so I wanted to bring something similar back. You will choose how to evolve your species but only once you have survived long enough to reach maturity. At the same time, you will have to compete with the other players' species (and NPC ones) as well as a changing environment. Here are the subsections of the game looked at in more detail:
Active Round – This is what I call it when you are controlling an individual of your species and trying to survive. Reaching maturity is proof of your species' survivability and allows you to reproduce and possibly evolve (see Evolution). For each of these rounds, I shall describe your immediate environment and give you the status of your individual and species as a whole. (See below for example.) Each of these rounds, you can vote to take an action: any action that you could reasonably take. This could be examining your surroundings, or attacking prey, for example. A dice will be rolled to see how effective your action turns out.
1 – Much Worse Than Expected
2 – Worse Than Expected
3 - As Expected
4 – As Expected
5 - Better Than Expected
6 – Much Better Than Expected
Your aim will be to take a creature from youngster to adult, and pass on your genes. Once you reach full maturity, which will be listed in your status, you will be allowed to reproduce.
If you die, you shall return as a young version of your species. However, if you die and your species is on the edge of extinction, your species may become extinct. This means you will have to choose another species to branch off of. (More will be explained if this occurs.)
Evolution – When you have voted to reproduce, you can choose two mutations to try and evolve. This can range from better eyes, to bigger size, to swarming behaviour to whatever you can think of. However, it must be realistic. This will also be given a dice roll to see how successful it is.
1 – Extra Disadvantageous
2 – Disadvantageous
3 - Normal
4 - Normal
5 – More Beneficial
6 – Extra Beneficial
Then, you shall rejoin the world as your next species. Please also remember to leave a desired name for your new species. You should also think about your species as a whole when choosing mutations. Furthermore, developing sexual reproduction will give you a third choice to make.
I think we'll start with six players and see how well I can handle the work load, so please ask to join below. For this first round, we will get straight to evolving so also let me know your two mutations and a species name. Let me know if you have any questions.

Round 0 - The Calm Before The Storm
The seas of Ezta have recently been purged of almost all species, so the blue deep is eerily quiet. Only a few proto-worms scurry through the sandy bottom and between green, moss covered rocks, blissfully unaware of the fate they avoided. The planet has stabilised now and there are few environmental concerns for the surviving species. The only problem is, with a lack of other multicellular species, food sources are rather limited.
Superstes veteris
The first known member of the group Superstesa, it is a rare survivor of the Great Extinction, hence the name. It has a tubular, worm-like body, typical of its group, that it throws from side to side to move through the sand. It calmly filter-feeds microbes, unhindered by competition from anything but its own species.
Features: It is the most advanced animal of its time. It has a nervous system, consisting of cerebral ganglia in the head and two nerves running down the body which coordinate the contraction of the proto-muscle cells. A circular mouth leads to a stomach containing cells that release agents to break down microbes, and an anus to dispel waste. Food is located via sense receptors on the head, which detect vibrations. All individuals have both male and female reproductive parts, and a tiny capsule of baby worms is laid after mating. However, it is restricted by the fact it still requires oxygen to diffuse through the pigmentless skin.
Distribution: Ocean Floor
Status: LC
Time: R.0 -
Size: 1mm (length)
Lifestyle: Filter-feeder
Predecessor: Unknown
