I had a thought about the possibility of including such things as parasitism in microbes to add difficulty to the microbe stage but to also open new options of gameplay for the player, i.e avoiding becoming host to a parasitic microbe, or alternatively playing as a parasitic microbe. (See organisms in real life such as: bdellovibrio which uses an enzyme to break down the membrane of a cell so that it can enter the periplasmic space of a host and feed on the biopolymers), any thoughts?

There are microbes that can enter other microbes ? That's interesting , I thought only viruses do that . What's the point of it if it's not multiplication of DNA though ? Edit : Wouldn't the cell be killed very quickly if it's eaten from inside ?

Bdellovibrio are bacteria that parasite on other bacteria, so the mechanics are probably somewhat different. There are, things like babesia, which are protozoo that infect blood cells (both unicellular eukaryotes), so there are some precedents to that (at least according to wikipedia lol) No idea how would we reconcile that with the engulfment mechanic, possibly making only some cells being able to engulf?
