You've come out of the Aware Stage with the knowledge of how to get bones, muscles, and blood vessels to form a hand, but now you have to figure out what you'll be using them on. I'm assuming the Tech Editor is going to have a lot of specific materials to use (heck, very early on you'll probably just be using the materials as tools), each with their own ways to get them.
Structures
Wood: Will need to be thick and sturdy, not little twigs. Therefore, you need to chop down trees, be they of cellulose (normal trees) or chitin (giant mushrooms). You can also just use fallen ones lying around or washed ashore.
Hides: Be they scaly, shaggy, or leathery, hides wrap around structural supports (or just bodies) and shield whatever's inside from the elements. You can find them on animal corpses (usually ones you kill), but the animals have to be big enough to have a hide worth using (unless you just want shoes, gloves, or a studded handle).
Clay: Good for making bricks, and as mortar to bind them. You can find it on the ground (it is the ground), but you'll need a water source (where clay is formed anyway) to make it useful.
Thatch: Either large, dry leaves/stalks, or stripped bark. Good for both making walls/floors/roofs/whatever and as a component of mud bricks.
Tool Parts
Wood: In addition to the above, you can just use sticks. You can even break branches off (or just find them on the ground).
Obsidian: Volcanic glass that holds an edge very well. Find it on the ground in areas with volcanic activity.
Flint: Not only holds an edge, but it's good for starting fires! Find it on the ground anywhere.
Decorative/Ritual
Feathers: Your planet might have animals with these delicate, often colorful appendages.
Shells: Your planet might have animals with these unique, bony structures for protection. If you wind up in posession of one, it obviously didn't do its job.
Chitin/Keratin/Dentin: Your planet might have animals with tough claws, horns, or tusks. Carve them up into something!
(Feel free to think up some more).
